By definition, a duality is an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something.

This image illustrates the spectrum of extroversion, showing the range of possibilities in between the two extremes (introvert and extrovert) including the moderate “ambivert.”

I describe it as two poles on opposite ends of a spectrum. Most human disposition occurs on a spectrum: happiness/sadness, hope/fear, nature/nurture, even introversion/extroversion. Each of these are pairs of opposites, where the space between is a spectrum representative of moderate forms of these behaviors – the poles being the extremes.

In the spirit of the new moon in Scorpio, the duality of light and shadow represents the importance of understanding energy and how we interpret it.

We can forget that everything is energy, everything – including emotion, intuition, discomfort, hope, fear. We just need to learn how to channel it properly, to be our own alchemists and convert it into gold.

How do we do this?

  1. Focus on the process, not the result. Oftentimes we are consumed by the end goal. But if we focus on the process, we will distribute our energy more strategically and effectively.
  2. Slow down and pay attention to your movement, i.e. eating, drinking, walking, sitting, driving. Attune your mind to your movement and be present, observing and appreciating your life form and how it uses energy.
  3. Don’t forget to breathe. Our energy starts with our breath, our life force.

Transforming your energy begins with learning your strength, with finding your center amidst the chaos. Look your struggle in the eye and feel your energy turn from shadow into light ✨.
